24 апреля на Майдане в Киеве состоялась церемония прощания с инструктром полка «Азов» Георгием Джанелидзе, погибшим 19 апреля под Широкино. 20 апреля стало известно, что члены специальной миссии ОБСЕ, которые работают в районе Широкино, почти десять часов уговаривали боевиков дать возможность забрать из-под обстрела тело погибшего. Перед смертью он успел уничтожить российского инструктора.
